About Block-Level Permissions

Block-level permissions control which template blocks users can modify. Blocks can be locked or unlocked, and they are locked by default. Users cannot edit a locked block, including its text, images, colors, or layout. When a block is unlocked, users can modify its content.

  • For example, managers can lock blocks with marketing copy and sales materials to keep messaging consistent. They can also unlock blocks with contact information so users can insert their contact details to share with prospects.

Setting Block-Level Permissions

  • Open the template for which you’d like to modify block-level permissions.
  • The top right block bar contains a lock icon indicating whether a block is locked or unlocked. Blocks are locked by default.
  • To enable users to edit a particular block’s content, click the lock icon to unlock it.
  • When the block is unlocked, users can edit the content freely.

About User-Level Permissions

Users are assigned one of three levels of permissions for editing template content: Locked Editing, Global Editing, or Detached Editing. By default, users are assigned Locked Editing permissions.

img

Locked Editing

Users can only modify unlocked blocks. Users can’t add, delete, or re-arrange blocks. The template is connected to the user’s iFOLIO, and locked blocks will be automatically updated when the template changes.

This permission is default, and useful when a user only needs to edit a few blocks.

Global Editing

Users can modify every block, regardless of lock status. Users cannot add, delete, or re-arrange blocks. The template is connected to the user’s iFOLIO. Changes to a template block will be automatically sent to the user’s iFOLIO and will overwrite any changes the user has made.

This permission is useful when a user needs to edit many blocks and needs changes to the template updated automatically.

Detached Editing

Users can modify every block and add, delete, & re-arrange blocks at will. The template is not connected to the user’s iFOLIO, and changes made to the template will not be reflected in the user’s iFOLIO.

This permission is useful when a user wants to use a template as a starting point to create a different iFOLIO page instead of using the template as the finalized page.

Setting User-Level Permissions

  • Click on “Permissions” in the upper right corner of the template you want to assign permissions for.
  • A window will open, showing all the users in your account. You can set one of the 3 permission levels for each user. Click the info symbol next to each permission level to understand its meaning.
  • Click the circle next to a user’s name for the permissions you’d like to set for the template, then click “Save.”
  • The user will now have the specified level of control over editing content from that template.
