November 2nd, 2020 -- Michelle Salzman won a historic upset to take the seat in District 1, Florida. On August 18, 2020 no one believed she would be standing after elections. Polls gave her a 10% chance against incumbent Mike Hill.

In a historic upset, Michelle Salzman won her primary (52.5% to 47.5%) and won the state race with a 26,856-vote victory over Mathis (65.3%). Her story is being celebrated nationwide as a story grit, hard work, and persistence.

"I didn't take anything for granted at all," Salzman said. "All this past year, we have just been telling every single person that we meet that every vote counts, that their vote matters. And tonight that was certainly the case."

Salzman is a longtime Pensacola area volunteer, former president of the Escambia County Council of PTAs, an entrepreneur, and an Army veteran.

Salzman engaged constituents from both parties with personalized digital campaigns pushed to mobile.
